Why T-Rex chose to dance by himself

4 minute readBy Michael Savva

Sometimes the best way to find the fun is to stop waiting and give it a go.

In Dinosaur Disco, T-Rex really wants to dance.

There’s just one small problem.

Nobody else seems quite as keen.

He could have stayed at the side of the dance floor, waited for someone else to make the first move, or decided that dancing on his own looked a little too silly.

But T-Rex chooses something much more fun.

He dances anyway.

Sometimes things don’t quite go the way we imagined. Maybe our friends don’t want to join in. Maybe we feel a little nervous. Maybe we’re worried we won’t be very good at something.

But if we always wait for the perfect moment, we might miss the fun altogether.

T-Rex doesn’t know whether he’s going to be the best dancer in the jungle. He just knows he wants to have a go.

And that’s really the point.

Trying something new, joining in and enjoying yourself can be much more important than getting everything right. You might discover something you love. You might make someone else want to join in too. And you might even surprise yourself.

So next time there’s a dance floor, a new game, a new club or something you’ve never tried before, maybe take a little inspiration from T-Rex.

Don’t spend too long standing on the sidelines.

Sometimes you’ve just got to stomp onto the dance floor and give it a go. 🦖🪩

T-Rex had a go, so why not you?

You don’t need to be the best dancer in the jungle. Just pick a move, turn up the music and have some fun.

Need a place to start?

Let the disco ball choose!

The Dino Ballet

Stand tall, stretch your arms out wide and try a slow spin. Bonus points if you can finish with a giant dinosaur pose.

The Two Step Stomp

Step to the right. Step to the left. Add a little bounce and a big dinosaur stomp. Simple, but surprisingly catchy!

The Dino Floss

Arms one way, hips the other. Then switch! See how many you can do before getting completely tangled up.

The T-Rex Shuffle

Tuck your elbows in like tiny T-Rex arms and shuffle from side to side. Keep those claws ready!

The Street Dino

Add a bit of attitude. Bounce, slide, spin or make up your own cool move. There are no wrong answers.

The Triceratops Twirl

Spin around three times, stop, then strike your biggest Triceratops pose. Try not to get too dizzy!

The Ankylosaurus Stomp

Take four big stomps forward, four stomps back, then pretend to swing your giant dinosaur tail.

The Pterodactyl Fly By

Stretch your arms out like wings and swoop around the room. Just watch out for furniture!

The Stego Groove

Lean left, lean right and give your shoulders a little wiggle. Imagine your plates flashing along with the music.

Make Up Your Own

Sometimes the best dance moves are the ones nobody has invented yet. Give yours a name and teach it to someone else.

The most important rule?

There isn’t one.

Dance fast. Dance slowly. Dance brilliantly. Dance terribly.

As long as you’re having fun, you’re doing it right. 🪩
