Information we collect

When you order, contact us or send us a photograph, we may receive information such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery address, order details, correspondence and any material you choose to send.

Stripe processes your payment information. We receive confirmation and transaction information needed to manage the order, but we do not receive your full card number.

Why we use it

• To process payment, deliver orders and manage preorders.
• To provide customer service, replacements, cancellations and refunds.
• To keep a reliable order record and measure website and checkout completion.
• To meet accounting, tax, fraud prevention and legal obligations.
• To respond when you contact us or voluntarily submit content.

Our lawful reasons

We normally use order information because it is necessary to fulfil our contract with you. We also use information where necessary to comply with legal obligations or pursue legitimate business interests such as preventing fraud, keeping appropriate records, improving the website and answering enquiries.

Who receives it

Information may be shared only as needed with service providers involved in payments, website hosting, email, delivery, professional advice and business administration. Those providers may process information under their own notices or on our instructions.

International processing

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for those transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including fulfilment, customer support, legal, accounting and tax requirements.

Reviews and optional photographs

We store your review, rating, chosen display name and private email so we can check and manage your submission. Only approved reviews and separately approved photographs appear publicly. Your email is never shown with a review. We record your review and photo permissions, newsletter choice, consent wording version, source and date. Newsletter consent is optional and separate from review permission. Photo metadata such as location is removed where supported before storage.

Review notifications, including an optional photograph, are sent privately to info@mydinosauruniverse.com. Only the authorised site owner can access the review administration area. Please do not include a child’s full name, age, school, address or other personal details. To withdraw permission or request removal, email info@mydinosauruniverse.com. We keep unpublished submissions only as long as needed to assess and administer them, and retain published content while permission remains in place. Short-lived hashed submission counters help prevent spam.

Google Customer Reviews

After a successful purchase, we may display Google’s optional invitation to receive a shopping experience survey. To display this invitation and schedule it appropriately, the confirmation page shares your order identifier, order email address, delivery country and estimated delivery date with Google. This happens when the Google invitation loads, before you decide whether to receive the survey. We do not send your card details, full delivery address, product identifiers or newsletter preferences through this integration.

If you choose to take part, Google may email you a survey after the estimated delivery date. You can decline without affecting your purchase, delivery or customer service. This choice is separate from newsletter signup and from reviews submitted directly to this website.

Google processes the information under its Privacy Policy, including information about international processing, retention and your choices. The Google module may use Google’s own browser storage or cookies. Our description of privacy-friendly first-party measurement below applies to our own measurement, not Google’s separate service. We store only a temporary flag in your browser tab’s session storage to avoid repeating an invitation for the same order; this flag contains no email address or delivery address.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your information, object to certain processing, or ask for information to be transferred. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Cookies, local storage and website measurement

The website uses essential local storage to remember the contents of your basket. It also records privacy-friendly first-party events such as page visits, Add to Basket actions, checkout starts, completed payments, refunds and selected enquiry links. This helps us understand whether the website works and which books or pages are useful.

This measurement does not use advertising cookies, create an advertising profile or track your activity across other websites.

When you join our updates, we save your email address, the consent wording you accepted and the signup date. We use this information to send the occasional My Dinosaur Universe news you request. Consent is optional and is not required to buy a book. You can withdraw it using your unsubscribe link or by emailing info@mydinosauruniverse.com. We retain a record of your preference so that unsubscribed addresses are not added again by a duplicate signup. Our welcome email is sent using Resend, with replies directed to info@mydinosauruniverse.com. We also keep the date your welcome was sent and whether your first-order welcome offer was redeemed. You can opt out using your unsubscribe link.
